Historical mode works really well and I've had a lot of fun with it. Sometimes the AI seems reluctant to attack, when it has a clear advantage and other times it attacks when it has no chance.
I know I'm not the first to mention this, but while I love the alt-history doesn't really work without an AI that can somewhat strategize or understand what the foci actually do. And then everything goes idle, because France nor Germany have a focus to attack one another in these branches. SOV attacks Romania, triggers Germany to invade SOV. Italy completes the focus to create the New Roman Empire, and leaves China's faction and invites France. Liberated Manchukuo comes to China's rescue(?).įrance changes to Fascist and removes its volunteers from SCW only to send them back to the Nationalists.įrance joins China's faction and attacks SOV. So much for setting a game up where the USA is a replacement for Nazi Germany.ģ: Alternate Italy/Democratic Germany/Alternate China/Democratic Japan: This one is really weird.Īll the Chinese cliques join the Comintern. Weirdly, Fascist USA joins the Allies if Fascist Germany isn't present. The Loyalists really struggle and often lose to the Constitutionalists, particularly if Germany isn't fascist.
In true AI fashion, it does so, committing suicide, and ending an interesting potential USA vs. The alt-history Germany paths seem to be the only ones that work reasonable well, assuming no other funny business is going on.Īll the other scenarios have serious issues:įor some reason, Catholic Mexico appears and starts a civil war.īy the time this happens, Bolivarian Mexico has completed the focus to attack the United States. I've observed a few games using some alt-history scenarios that should work, but the AI quickly takes the game off the rails.
